We’re part of a bigger picture
At Gressingham Foods, we take our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously. After all, a healthy, sustainable rural landscape is vital to the wellbeing of our business.
As part of our commitment to the health of the environment in which we work, we have, since 2004:
- diverted 45% of our waste from landfill
- achieved 100% recycling of cardboard
- met all Climate Change Levy Agreements for 10 of our farms
- made progress towards ISO14001 certification with the aim of having the Environmental Management System certified
- Streamlined waste disposal practices resulting in a reduction in lorry movements
Gressingham Foods’ energy policy:
“We at Gressingham Foods are dedicated to reducing our impact upon the environment through sound environmental management principles aimed at reducing our energy consumption.
Along with good housekeeping practices, thorough maintenance procedures and the use of innovative, energy efficient technologies and processes, we aim to manufacture a product that meets with all relevant environmental legislation and will assist us in attaining our Climate Change Levy Agreement quantitative targets.
We will achieve this by managing and controlling the main energy consuming aspects of the company, resourcing and reporting energy management throughout the company, setting and reviewing energy targets and objectives, and ensuring sufficient training of all staff to highlight our guiding principles. We will guarantee continual improvement of our site energy plan and co-ordinate this with other organisational policies.”
Gressingham Foods’ environmental policy:
It is our policy at Gressingham Foods to process poultry whilst fully complying with all legal obligations and consents. We will operate a management system to control all of our operations to meet, as a minimum legal requirement, our own best practice systems. Our systems will be based on a policy of prevention of pollution and will be supported by a fully documented improvement programme.
We will minimise our impacts on the environment by reducing raw material, water and energy usage and by educating, motivating and training our employees.
